Amazon reports fastest ever Prime delivery times in 2024

Amazon achieved its fastest delivery speeds ever for Prime members globally in 2024, and delivered more than nine billion items the same or next day. 

The retail giant said that it is delivering more “everyday essentials”, household and pantry items across health, beauty, baby, pet food and other categories. It also expanded its same-day delivery category selection, offering customers a way to shop grocery items. 

In the UK alone, Amazon delivered more than one billion items arriving the same or next day in 2024. Some of the most popular same-day items delivered last year include pharmacy essentials, such as magnesium and baby wipes, and beauty products like mascara, hair treatments and skincare. 

The ecommerce retailer said it is also continuing to invest in its logistics and delivery capabilities to keep speeding up its delivery, with same-day delivery now available for millions of products in over 80 towns and cities across the UK. 

The fastest order delivered in the UK in the last three months happened in Manchester on an order which only took under an hour and a half to arrive. 

In 2024, Prime members in the UK on average saved nearly £200 on fast unlimited delivery – more than two times an annual membership fee. 

Amazon also said that while it is delivering a broader selection at faster speeds, it is also improving the overall safety of its employees, allocating $750m (£598m) in 2024 for technologies, resources, training and programmes to improve safety across its global network.
