JD Sports eyes job cuts at Derby distribution centre

It also saw organic sales growth of 9%, with a premium sports fashion organic sales growth of 10.9% and like-for-like sales growth of 3.8%

JD Sports has confirmed that it is considering the future of a number of jobs at its Derby distribution centre.

The 514,000-square-foot warehouse can be found on Derby Commercial Park, off Raynesway, and opened around three years ago.

A person familiar with the situation has stated that โ€œno final decisionโ€ has been taken with regards to the site.

They also confirmed that this consultation will have โ€œno impactโ€ on JD Groupโ€™s distribution centre in Rochdale, Kingsway.

A JD Group spokesperson said: โ€œWe have entered into a period of consultation with colleagues based at our Derby distribution centre. This is in relation to a review of the Derby distribution centre. We are doing all we can to look after those colleagues impacted and recognise this may be an unsettling time for them.โ€

This sport comes as JD Sports saw its profit-before-tax fall 8% down to ยฃ912.4m for the year ended 27 January 2024.

Despite this, the company has still stated it saw โ€œstrategic progress in a challenging marketโ€.

As a result, its revenue rose 2.7% from ยฃ1.13bn in the period last year up to ยฃ1.4bn this year.

It also saw organic sales growth of 9%, with a premium sports fashion organic sales growth of 10.9% and like-for-like sales growth of 3.8%.
