Whole Foods Market and BasicNet signs retail units in Chelsea
Whole Foods Market has signed a 15-year lease to occupy 21,000 sq ft while BasicNet signed a 10-year lease for 6,500 sq ft
Whole Foods Market and BasicNet have recently signed as new tenants at the One Twenty Kingโs Road development in Chelsea, London.ย
The development, which has been built from the formerly out of date Kings Walk Shopping Centre, has increased the net area from 55,000 sq ft to 84,000 sq ft across a more varied mix of uses, including retail, office and leisure space.ย
On the ground floor and basement, American supermarket chain Whole Foods Market has signed a 15-year lease to occupy 21,000 sq ft that will serve as a flagship store for Chelsea.ย
BasicNet, the apparel, footwear and accessories group, has signed a 10-year lease to occupy 6,500 sq ft of retail space. The store will showcase outerwear brand K-Way, trainer brand Superga and leather shoe brand Sebago.ย
Crosstree acquired the building in December 2019, received planning consent in 2021, and completed construction in August 2023. The 84,000 sq ft development is now 75% let, with advanced negotiations under way for the last 19,500 sq ft unit.ย
Commenting on the signings, James Clark, development director at Crosstree Real Estate Partners, said: One Twenty Kingโs Road follows our One Berkeley Street development in Mayfair in bringing a high quality, highly sustainable mixed-use development to a prime London location.ย
โWhile the ground floor space has been designed to complement the existing strength of the Kingโs Road by attracting new brands such as K-Way, Superga and Sebago, the significant volume of office space on the upper floors brings something different to Chelsea.โ
Jade Hoai, director of purchasing and operations at Whole Foods Market, added: โWe are delighted to be opening a store at One Twenty Kingโs Road. This development allows us to expand our reach in London, and to share our love of food and our mission to nourish people and the planet with the local community.ย
โWe look forward to opening this flagship store for Chelsea and continue to provide Londoners with a unique high-quality offering centred around the celebration of food.โ
Federico Trono, CEO at BasicNet, said: โWhile the Kingโs Road has long been somewhere we have actively sought a flagship, One Twenty is the first space we have seen that gives us everything we want. We have a dominant frontage in a significant space that will allow us to showcase three of our leading brands.โ
