Go Outdoors, the outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, has launched its 20,242 sq ft store at Metrocentre, in the North East.

Having taken the unit on Blue Mall, the new store stocks an array of renowned outerwear brands such as Rab, Oex, and Berghaus, as well as a full range of footwear and camping equipment.

Operating as a Go Outdoors Express, it also delivers additional services, such as boot and rucksack fitting, and has been designed for an omnichannel experience, enhancing and elevating the customer journey with in-store collection and drop-off points.

Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, said: “Go Outdoors is a welcome addition to Metrocentre and highlights our quick and hands-on approach to finding an alternative tenant for the former Wilko space.

“Not only does it provide a dedicated space for our customers that love the great outdoors, but also complements the wider retail offer that we have evolved over the last few years. It consolidates our position in the market as the go-to destination for retail in the North East, where brands like Go Outdoors thrive.”

Lee Bagnall, CEO at Go Outdoors, added: “We are delighted and proud to open our new Go Outdoors Express store at Metrocentre. We have had a fantastic couple of years at Go, as more and more people are reaping the benefits of the outdoors for their physical and mental well-being, and this new store is the outcome of that success.

“We’re looking forward to offering more customers our unbeatable range of outdoor clothing, footwear, and equipment, whilst also supporting our local community and offering jobs in Tyne and Wear.”
