M&S chief digital and technology officer Jeremy Pee is set to leave the company despite the fact his role was expanded in January this year.

Pee was hired in 2018 from Loblaw, Canada’s largest supermarket chain to be a chief digital and data officer.

He oversaw the expansion of the retailer’s online shopping app and the Sparks loyalty programme.

He also led efforts to turn its stores into hubs for click-and-collect purchases and installing digital screens that allow customers to return unwanted clothing.

His responsibilities will be taken on by M&S’s co-chief executive officer Katie Bickerstaffe until a replacement is found.

An M&S spokesperson said: “After five years at M&S Jeremy is moving his family back to Canada in a planned move.”
