Topshop teases Oxford Street return in new video

Fashion retailer Topshop has teased a possible return to Oxford Street in a new video posted online.
On Instagram, the retailer published a video featuring London mayor Sadiq Khan urging Topshop to make a comeback to the shopping hub.
In the clip, Khan reflects on his own experiences with the retailer, recalling time spent outside the store with his daughters.
He said: “I’d meet my mates outside Topshop, my daughters used to go shopping at Topshop and I know every type of Topshop jeans. Wouldn’t it be great to get Topshop back on Oxford Street?”
The video is the latest in a series of hints the brand has published in recent days, including a teaser posted on 28 February with the caption “watch this space”.
At the same time, the brand is allegedly preparing to relaunch its own website. At topshop.com a slogan saying “coming soon” added further speculation that the brand is planning to relaunch online. Currently, Topshop is available on Asos.
Topshop used to have a presence in 70 locations across the UK, with its most famous store situated on London’s Oxford Street. However, the brand fell into administration in 2020 and was revived by Asos a year later.
Last year, it was announced that Asos completed the sale of the Topshop and Topman brands to a joint venture led by Heartland for an undisclosed sum.
The news comes after Asos announced its plans to offload the brands on 5 September 2024, amid a refinancing of the business.
Following the sale, Heartland, which is owned by Bestseller, now holds a 75% stake in the brands for a total of £135m, and the remaining 25% stake will be owned by Asos.
Heartland, a family business which operates an “extensive” wholesale and retail business with more than £4bn sales across its channels, including 2,800 retail stores in over 30 countries.
