Amazon grocery boss to step down
He scrapped much of the retailer’s technology focussed approach to physical retail most notably ditching its cashierless Just Walk Out system
Amazon grocery boss Tony Hoggett has revealed that he is set to step down from his position at the company to “pursue the next chapter of his career”.
Hoggett joined Amazon back in 2022 as senior vice president of worldwide grocery stores.
Previous to this he was Tesco group chief strategy and innovation officer and group chief operating officer.
During his time at Amazon he focussed his efforts on revamping the company’s grocery arm and its approach to physical retail.
He scrapped much of the retailer’s technology focussed approach to physical retail most notably ditching its cashierless Just Walk Out system.
He said in a post on LinkedIn: “After nearly three years at Amazon, it’s time for the next step in my career. My time at Amazon has been incredible, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support, guidance and friendship.”
“I’m optimistic about the work Amazon is doing to improve the grocery shopping experience for customers, and have no doubt the teams will keep the momentum going in my absence. I’ll be cheering you all on.”
