Morrisons hit by raft of senior staff departures

Sources also told The Sunday Times that they believe supply chain director Lauren Lepley, who has been out of the business for weeks, could be the next to leave

Morrisons has been hit by an “exodus” of senior staff after seven directors left the supermarket over the summer, including convenience director Miles Foster, property director Mark Nowak and productivity director Jonathan Bell, according to the Sunday Times

The news comes after almost a third of the top 60 employees at the company resigned since the appointment of chief executive Rami Baitiéh in November 2023.

Additionally, media director Sophie Bayer, non-food category director Tony Fearon and two people directors, Inji Duducu and Charlie Field have also recently left the Bradford-based supermarket chain.

Sources also told The Sunday Times that they believe supply chain director Lauren Lepley, who has been out of the business for weeks, could be the next to leave.

According to the report, a spokesman stated: “Those who have left have been replaced with internal promotions, external hires or a reallocation of responsibilities.”

The supermarket chain has been struggling since its £7bn acquisition by US private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) in 2022.

According to the latest NIQ data, its market share dipped to 8.4% from 8.5% in the 12 weeks to 13 July 2024.

Morrisons has been contacted for comment.
