Morrisons exec steps down after three months

Darren Blackhurstโ€™s appointment as interim chief customer and marketing officer was expected to lead to a permanent position

The interim chief customer officer at Morrisons has stepped down from the role after only three months in the position.

Darren Blackhurstโ€™s appointment as interim chief customer and marketing officer was expected to lead to a permanent position, The Times has reported.

However, Blackhurst stepped down from the supermarketโ€™s board only months after rejoining the company. The terms of his departure are reportedly being negotiated.ย

In February, Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiรฉh appointed Blackhurst as interim chief customer and marketing officer on an interim basis, which was expected to become permanent.ย

Despite this, Blackhurst said that he intends to stand down, whilst logistics director Craig Taylor has also stepped down in recent weeks.

According to The Times, multiple people have left the supermarketโ€™s senior positions since Baitiรฉh joined in November, having moved from French supermarket chain Carrefour.ย

He does not plan to replace the eight people who have recently left, The Times said.

Morrisons has been contacted for comment.
