Covering 1,639 employees, the report reveals that in its stores, the median Gender Pay Gap is 0.95% reflecting the company’s equal pay policy

The Perfume Shop has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of two female directors, Karen Harris and Laura Wilkinson.

Harris, who was previously head of marketing, will take up a new position of customer director and be responsible for all areas of Customer, Loyalty, Marketing and PR.

Wilkinson, previously head of digital, will meanwhile take up a new position of online business director and be responsible for the evolution of The Perfume Shop’s online business via its website and mobile app.

The group said both roles will support its “continued commitment to both development opportunities and creating a great place to work for everyone”.

Alongside these appointments, The Perfume Shop has also published its 2023 Gender Pay Gap report. Covering 1,639 employees, the report reveals that in its stores, the median Gender Pay Gap is 0.95% reflecting the company’s equal pay policy.

Within its head office, the report also highlights that the mean gender pay gap is -3.97% reflecting the high number of females within senior roles, and its “commitment to supporting women’s development and growth within the workplace”.

Gill Smith, managing director said: “We’re pleased to announce Karen and Laura’s new positions within our Leadership Team and know that their proven expertise and passion will continue to help deliver our strategy to be the UK’s favourite O+O perfume retailer.

“We’re also pleased to see this year’s improvements in our Gender Pay Gap results. With more initiatives planned to continue to build on these results, we’re confident that our values, opportunities and benefits make The Perfume Shop a really special place to work for everyone.”

She added: “In 2023 we achieved three important external awards[2]that demonstrates our commitment to people practices and to our employees, and we will continue to focus on growing and supporting our own talent in 2024.”
