Shein eyes Boohoo suppliers for UK expansion
Shein has also reportedly considered floatation on the London Stock Exchange
Shein has reportedly begun the process of onboarding a number of Boohoo suppliers as it ramps up its UK expansion, according to Drapers.
The company reportedly sent an invitation email to suppliers used by Boohoo late last year, and some are now in discussions with Sheinโs Chinese office in Guangzhou.
In the email Shein seen by Drapers stated: โWe are writing this letter to tell you that we are looking for suitable suppliers around the world and also hope that your company is interested in cooperating with us. According to preliminary understanding, your company has good experience in fashion, manufacturing and design. We would like to learn more about your company.โ
This news comes as the fast fashion retailer commences a rapid UK expansion including making major appointments such as the appointment of former Pretty Little Thing buying director Gemma Dunne as its first ever chief product officer.
She has been tasked with growing a 15 person team in Manchester to create a UK-trend centric brand.
Shein has also reportedly considered floatation on the London Stock Exchange.
