Primark to hire 100 staff ahead of Salisbury opening

Pay rates for all roles start from ยฃ11 per hour, following an increase introduced for 26,000 retail assistants in April

Primark has begun a recruitment drive for 100 new team members ahead of its new store opening in Salisbury this September.

The 29,700 sq ft store will be set across two floors in the Old George Mall in the city centre, in the former BHS unit.ย

The retailer will be recruiting for a number of roles including retail assistants, stockroom colleagues, and visual merchandising, with start dates as early as August to help get the store ready.ย

Pay rates for all roles start from ยฃ11 per hour, following an increase introduced for 26,000 retail assistants in April. This represents a 12% average increase on hourly pay rates compared to 2022.

In addition, all colleagues receive a year-round 15% discount on Primark products, as well as benefits such as an employee assistance programme and pension package.ย

According to the retailer, the exact opening date will be confirmed nearer the time.ย

At the moment, the closest Primark branch to Salisbury is in Basingstoke, Winchester or Southampton.ย

Christopher Carter, store manager at Primark Salisbury, said: โ€œOur construction team has been busy getting the store ready over the last few months, and now it’s time for the next step on our journey.ย

โ€œPrimark is an amazing place to work and weโ€™re looking forward to welcoming 100 new members to the family over the coming months as we prepare for launch in September.โ€ย

โ€œWe know that Salisbury shoppers have been eagerly awaiting the opening, so we canโ€™t wait to welcome them to the store.โ€

Primark Salisbury is the retailerโ€™s first new store opening in England in more than two years, and will become Primarkโ€™s 192nd in the UK.ย

Its opening is part of Primarkโ€™s ยฃ140m investment in UK retail as it looks to invest in its stores and give customers even more reasons to visit their local high streets.
