Zara owner sales jump 17.5% in FY22

The groupโ€™s EBITDA increased 20% to โ‚ฌ8.6bn (ยฃ7.5bn), while profit before tax increased 28% to โ‚ฌ5.4bn (ยฃ4.7bn)

Inditex, the parent company of high street retailer Zara, has revealed that sales reached โ‚ฌ32.6bn (ยฃ28.7bn) in FY22, an increase of 17.5% on the prior year.

According to the group, its sales grew 18% in constant currencies across all its key geographical areas both in stores and online.ย

While online sales for the group grew โ€œsatisfactorilyโ€ over the 2021 record figure of โ‚ฌ7.8bn (ยฃ6.8bn), FY22 saw a 23% increase in sales within brick-and-mortar stores.ย 

As a result, the groupโ€™s gross profit increased 17% to โ‚ฌ18.6bn (ยฃ16.3bn), with the gross margin reaching 57%.

Meanwhile, the groupโ€™s EBITDA increased 20% to โ‚ฌ8.6bn (ยฃ7.5bn), while profit before tax increased 28% to โ‚ฌ5.4bn (ยฃ4.7bn).

In 2022, Inditex opened stores in 33 markets. By the end of the financial year, the group operated 5,815 stores.ย
