Pret A Manger to give staff third pay rise in a year
The salary increase will affect 7,870 shop staff who will earn well above the National Living Wage from April
Pret A Manger has announced that it will give staff a 3% pay rise, the third one in 12 months.
Starting from April, team members will see a pay increase from between £10.30 and £11.55 per hour to between £10.60 and £11.90 per hour depending on location while baristas’ pay will increase from between £10.85 and £12.50 per hour to between £11.20 and £12.85. The salary increase will affect 7,870 UK shop staff.
The company has also announced that its baristas will be amongst the highest paid in the industry and could earn up to £14.10 per hour with the Mystery Shopper Bonus, an extra hourly bonus of £1.25 for which an average of 85% of Team Members are eligible.
This pay rise is the third one Pret has introduced to help its staff with the cost of living crisis. In December 2022 the company had already announced a 5% pay rise and with the more recent increase the average base salary for shop staff will increase by 19% in April.
A new discounts portal has also been launched to provide staff with access to fresh food and other essential items from major supermarkets and other businesses at a lower cost. This new portal builds on Pret’s existing benefits package, which includes free food and drink while on shift and a 50% discount for all staff.
