Independent department store Sandersons Boutique has hailed a record-breaking festive sales period, despite facing a cost-of-living crisis, freezing weather conditions and numerous postal strikes.

It revealed the last full week of Christmas shopping (w/c 19th December) saw record breaking figures with a 14.86% increase in like for like sales against the same week in 2021.

The independent department store has seen retail sales surge from £564k in 2016 to £5.98m in 2022.

The Christmas shopping period saw sales up 4.13% on the previous year across the company’s three bricks and mortar stores, while online sales grew by 25.28% for the same period.

Founded in North Sheffield in 2016, the department store has quickly expanded with the opening of two new stores, one in Stroud, the Cotswolds and the other in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Sandersons Boutique co-founder and director, Mark Dransfield DL, said: “We are enjoying record sales, both within our high street stores and online. Our three stores are moving from strength to strength growing and supporting a strong and loyal customer base who see the value in our exclusive range of brands.”

A department store first, Sandersons has also launched their own luxury fragrances, One and Two.
