Banana Republic to be sold by Next

The Gap.co.uk site has migrated to the Next total platform, offering customers an ‘elevated’ online shopping experience

Gap has announced that it has reached an agreement with Next to extend its joint venture and sell its Banana Republic and Athleta brands in the UK and Republic of Ireland through the retailer.

Banana Republic, a global apparel and accessories brand for attainable luxury and heritage classics, will launch a new curated collection for women and men to celebrate its arrival in the UK.

Premium performance and lifestyle brand for women and girls Athleta, will enter the UK market in early 2023 with the launch of its women’s assortment on Next.co.uk.

The Gap.co.uk site has migrated to the Next total platform, which aims to offer customers an “elevated” online shopping experience. Gap has also returned to the British high street with stores now open in London, Birmingham and Thurrock.

Additionally, Gap’s physical presence within the UK continued expanding throughout November within Gap-branded shop-in-shops in Next locations in Manchester and Scotland including in Manchester Arndale, Glasgow’s Braehead Shopping Centre and Manchester Trafford.

Jon Jeffery, managing director of the joint venture, said: “I am excited to embark on the latest part of our Joint Venture journey, with the re-introduction of two amazing brands to the market through the Next.co.uk platform.

“Both Banana Republic and Athleta are truly aspirational Gap Inc. brands, who individually offer a unique perspective and a strong design aesthetic that allows us to engage and delight new audiences and further expand our portfolio within the UK and Ireland.”
