Harvey Nichols launches luxury resale service

From 26 August customers will be able to resell luxury handbags, fashion, accessories and watches, through the Reflaunt-run space on the department store’s website.

Harvey Nichols has announced it is to start offering a luxury resale service after partnering with specialist company Reflaunt.

From 26 August customers will be able to resell luxury handbags, fashion, accessories and watches, through the Reflaunt-run space on the department store’s website.

Sellers will then earn up to 80% back of the original price.

Items can be dropped off in Harvey Nichols stores in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh or Leeds, while Reflaunt’s concierge service will pick up the goods from London addresses.

Reflaunt boasts the largest second-hand community in the world, with 50 million shoppers across a network of 25 international marketplaces.

It is the latest development in the rapidly changing luxury retail market, as retailers attempt to appease the increasingly more environmentally conscious consumer.  

Manju Malhotra, chief executive of Harvey Nichols, said the partnership would offer customers “a circular model of consumption and ensure luxury fashion items are given the longer lifespan that they deserve.”
