Beaverbrooks closes website and warehouse operations

Beaverbrooks has closed its website and warehouse operations until further notice.

Anna Blackburn, managing director at Beaverbrooks, said the company made the “difficult decision” to close its website and warehouse operations to “protect” its colleagues, their families and the wider community.

She added: “As a family owned business, the safety and wellbeing of our people is our utmost priority, and despite current government guidance for online retailers to continue normal operation, we need to do everything we can to protect our colleagues, their families and the wider community.

“We will be working hard to fulfil any existing orders made before 3pm Friday 27 March, but delivery may take slightly longer than usual. We won’t be able to take any new orders or returns after this point, until further notice.”

It comes after the UK jeweller announced plans to shutter all 69 of its stores on 23 March, amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Blackburn said that the decision would “greatly affect” its hundreds of store colleagues, but added that supporting them was its “number one focus”.

She stressed that the safety and wellbeing of its customers, colleagues and the wider community was also its “top priority”. At the time, Beaverbrooks said its website and customer services team would still remain available for customers.
