UK jeweller Beaverbrooks has revealed plans to shutter all 69 of its stores by 5pm today (23 March) amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Managing director Anna Blackburn said this decision will “greatly affect” its hundreds of store colleagues, and added that supporting them is its “number one focus right now”.

She stressed that the safety and wellbeing of its customers, colleagues and the wider community is also its “top priority”.

However, its website and customer services team will still remain available for customers.

Blackburn said: “At times like these, love is more important than ever, so for any special moments you wish to celebrate, we are continuing to take and deliver all orders with no delays to deliveries at this time.

“Please keep checking our website, blog and social channels in the coming weeks as we’ll be doing all we can to stay connected and keep together as family.”

She added: “We’re still planning to email you regularly with inspiration, advice and offers too – you can change your subscribe preferences at any time.”
